Inside the life of Scottie Scheffler: net worth, wife, car, golf equipment and more

Scottie Scheffler’s rise to the top of the game has been a remarkable one. Up until the start of the 2022 season he hadn’t won on the PGA Tour, now he is talked about in Tiger terms. The footwork is funky and like few others but he really is something else and you get the feeling that he’s only just started.
Born? Scheffler was born on 21/6/96 in New Jersey so, yes, he’s still in his twenties. He has three sisters and he got into golf aged three with a set of plastic clubs and a table-tennis ball that he would shape around the house. In the wake of the 9/11 attacks the Schefflers moved to Dallas when he was six and they would borrow £50,000 to join Royal Oaks Country Club where Scheffler was coached by Randy Smith who helped Justin Leonard to his Open win at Troon.
Turn pro? Scheffler captured the illustrious US Junior Amateur in 2013 when he beat Davis Riley in the final and he played in the 2016 and 2017 US Opens as an amateur. He shared the first-round lead at Oakmont, before missing the cut, and was T27 at Erin Hills the following year when he also played on the victorious Walker Cup side. He graduated from the University of Texas with a degree in finance and turned pro in 2018. He finished as the Korn Ferry Tour Player of the Year in 2019 and the PGA Tour Rookie of the Year in the next season.
First pro win? It wouldn’t be until the Phoenix Open in February 2022, after his Ryder Cup debut at Whistling Straits, that he finally won. It took three holes of a play-off to edge out Patrick Cantlay and, incredibly, by the time he captured the Masters in April he had four victories to his name as well as becoming the new World No.1.
Married? He met his wife Meredith at high school and they married in 2020. They have one child, Bennett, who was born a month after his second Masters win in 2024. They live in Dallas and faith plays a big part in their marriage. His caddy Ted Scott is also a strong believer – “I really want to work with a Christian (in Scott). That’s how I try to live my life.”
Car? Scheffler isn’t your typical PGA Tour pro for many reasons. For years he drove a 2012 GMC Yukon XL, which was a gift from his dad after he graduated, and he would put it up for a children’s cancer charity. The car, nicknamed GMC Airlines, was bought by none other than legendary CBS Sports broadcaster Jim Nantz for $50,000. It’s not reported what he now drives but it will likely be fairly understated.
#UPDATE — Legendary sports broadcaster Jim Nantz has won Scottie Scheffler’s 2012 GMC Yukon XL at auction with a $50,000 bid. Proceeds are going to the Triumph Over Kid Cancer Charity. @SchefflerFans

Favourite sporting teams? Unsurprisingly he is a fan of the Dallas Cowboys as well as being an avid basketball fan where he has been photographed watching the Dallas Mavericks. He is also an investor in the Texas Ranchers Major League Pickleball team.
Earnings? His PGA Tour earnings have already topped $120m as well as the $25m bonus he won for being FedExCup champion. He is also reported as earning $20m from his endorsement deals with NetJets, Nike, Rolex, TaylorMade and Veritex Community Bank.
Equipment? Scheffler signed a deal with TaylorMade in 2022, which they further extended and turned into a multiyear deal in January 2024. He uses the TaylorMade woods and irons but there are some other quirks to his bag. Has has the Srixon ZU85 3 and 4-irons and Titleist Vokey wedges and the Pro V1 ball. The TaylorMade Spider Tour X putter has played a big part in his continued success as he turned a perceived weakness into another huge strength.
Biggest achievement? Scheffler now has 14 PGA Tour wins and an Olympic gold medal but he’ll always be measured by the Majors and he currently has two of them, both Green Jackets. The first came in 2022 when he could afford to four-putt the 72nd hole before easing to a four-shot win in 2024. He’s already a generational ball striker and you wouldn’t be amazed if he got close to double figures in the years to come.
