Norfolk State first road game with Michael Vick to get national TV treatment

Norfolk State football has received its kickoff time for its showdown against FBS opponent Rutgers.

NSU and Rutgers will meet at 3:30 p.m. EST on Saturday, Sep. 13, marking the Spartans’ first road test of the season. The game will air nationally on the Big Ten Network.

The announcement signifies the second revealed game time of the Spartans’ 2025 schedule. Norfolk State will travel to Hampton for the Battle of the Bay at 4 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 4.

The 2025 campaign will mark head football coach Michael Vick’s first season at Norfolk State, collecting historic attention and anticipation from the entire Hampton Roads community. The Spartans will open the season at home on Thursday, Aug. 28, against Towson.

Norfolk State and Rutgers have met four times since the 2007 campaign. The Spartans and Scarlet Knights last squared off in 2015, just over 10 years before the scheduled 2025 matchup.

Kickoff times and television designations for the Spartans’ remaining 10 games will be announced later.
